Mrs. Pogan's Web Page

Welcome to my Web Page! Let me tell you a little bit about myself; This is my 11th year teaching as an Intervention Specialist at Liberty Center Elementary. I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Hearing Impaired Education and then with my Master's Degree in Mild/Moderate Disabilities in Education, both from Bowling Green State University. I am married and have two sons who currently attend Liberty Center Elementary. I also have a step son who has just graduated from high school and is looking into going to Owens to further his education. I am dedicated to and passionate about helping kids achieve success and meet their potential. I believe that it is imperitive to work together with parents and all teachers involved in a child's education.

My Classroom

- To keep the lines of communication open, I like to send home a daily communication folder. This year it is orange and has my name at the bottom. It gives a general idea of how your child's day was, lists homework assignments, and has a place for comments and questions. Please sign and return the folder every day (the students get rewards for bringing their folder each day). Please use it to ask questions or give me suggestions.

- Homework: It is so important for students to work on and practice their skills at home as well as at school. I try not to give too much homework and I try to coordinate with the other general education teachers so we don't overload the kids. I generally send home a paper copy of a story for the students to keep and practice reading at your leisure. They should try to practice reading it a couple of times per week. The kids need to practice their spelling words every night. I may also send home a few worksheets that will help them understand the general education curriculum.

- Progress Reports on IEP goals are usually sent home with the quarterly grade cards. They will explain how your student is doing on
